Halitosis (bad breath)
It can be embarrassing to have bad breath. Generally, brushing, flossing and mouthwashes or chewing gum can help mask your breath when you've had onions or garlic or other strong-smelling foods. But sometimes your bad breath, or halitosis, is caused by something other than the food you eat or your tobacco use. Your dentist can help you determine if your bad breath is caused by an oral health issue--like improper or infrequent brushing, dry mouth, or gum disease--or if it is an indication of a larger health issue that will need to be addressed by a medical doctor. If you are concerned about your breath, talk to your dentist at your next appointment, or call now to make an appointment so you can discuss treatment options. And don't forget to check for sugar-free gum approved by the American Dental Association. It can help ease your fears about your breath after lunch.
